As part of the Sardinia Boat Show, the institutional talk titled “Presentation of the Sole 24 Ore, CIPNES Gallura and UniOlbia Report on the Economic Impact of the Boating Industry and Nautical Tourism in Sardinia and Italy” took place this morning. This strategic event highlighted the growing importance of the boating sector for regional and national economic development.
Moderated by TG1 journalist Annapaola Ricci, the meeting brought together a range of key representatives. Opening remarks were delivered by Andrea Gianotti, Head of the Research Department at Il Sole 24 Ore, who presented the main findings of the report, emphasizing the growth of the boating sector and its global development outlook. In particular, the central role of Italy in superyacht production emerged clearly, with over 50% of the global market share, confirming the strength and prestige of Made in Italy.
Guido Piga, Head of Communications at CIPNES Gallura and UniOlbia, presented an analysis focused on corporations and partnerships operating in the sector and their respective revenue volumes. Aldo Carta, President of UniOlbia, highlighted the evolution of the fair’s role, increasingly moving away from being solely linked to seasonal luxury and becoming a platform for strategic reflection on the future of the blue economy.
Regional Councillor for Industry Emanuele Cani stressed the need to equip Sardinia with adequate infrastructure and to strengthen the island’s industrial system, focusing on storage, maintenance, and production, in order to ensure sustainable and long-term sector growth. Massimo Deiana, President of the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia, provided an evolving perspective on the sector, highlighting challenges and critical issues, while the mayors of Olbia and Arzachena, Settimo Nizzi and Roberto Ragnedda, reaffirmed their administrations’ commitment to jointly supporting the growth of tourism and the boating economy in the region.
Particular attention was also given to the role of UniOlbia in education, with the recent launch of the naval engineering course, representing a forward-looking investment in younger generations.
The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, demonstrating strong local interest and engagement on the topic.
