The debut of the new Azimut confirms Sardinia’s central role

Sardinia continues to strengthen its position on the international yachting stage. This is confirmed by Azimut, Italy’s leading yachting group by revenue, which recorded €1.3 billion in 2024 and has chosen the island to unveil the new Seadeck 9, the flagship model of a range designed around more efficient and sustainable cruising. The decision highlights Sardinia’s growing ability to attract initiatives led by some of the world’s most prominent players in the yachting industry.

Measuring 25.6 metres in length, the Seadeck 9 introduces a range of solutions aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions, including the extensive use of carbon fibre, the innovative 180-degree Pool Deck, and the Hotel Mode system, which allows onboard services to be powered by lithium batteries while generators remain switched off during anchorage.

Choosing Sardinia for the debut of one of Azimut’s most innovative models goes far beyond a product launch. It represents recognition of a region that has steadily strengthened its position within the yachting industry in recent years, thanks to an increasingly competitive supply chain and an ecosystem that fosters investment, innovation and internationally oriented projects.

The figures confirm this momentum. In 2025, Sardinia’s yachting exports reached €43.5 million, marking a 47% increase compared with the previous year. The regional boatbuilding industry comprises 26 companies, 327 employees and €66 million in revenue. These are complemented by the refit and maintenance sector, which generates €76.3 million in revenue and includes 63 companies employing 516 people.

This performance is part of a national industry worth €14 billion, with the boatbuilding sector alone accounting for €6.4 billion, further confirming Italy’s strategic position in the global yachting market.

Against this backdrop, Azimut’s presence provides further evidence of Sardinia’s growing importance within the blue economy. The decision by Italy’s leading yachting group reinforces the island’s reputation as a destination capable of attracting investment, innovation and internationally significant initiatives, further strengthening its position within the global yachting industry.
