Blue Marina Awards: Cala dei Sardi to host a forum on the future of sustainable yachting

The sustainability of marinas, new energy solutions for yachting, marine environmental protection and innovation in the blue economy will take centre stage at the Blue Marina Awards, taking place on Friday, 24 July, at Marina Cala dei Sardi. The event will bring together institutions, businesses, universities, research centres and industry professionals for a day of discussion focused on the key challenges shaping the future of yachting and tourist marinas.

The event will open with remarks from Giacomo Bedeschi, Editor-in-Chief of La Nuova Sardegna, alongside Simone Morelli, Founder of NSS Group, and Walter Vassallo, Founder and President of the Blue Marina Awards. Following institutional greetings from Settimo Nizzi, Mayor of Olbia, Giuseppe Meloni, Vice President of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, and Gianluca D’Agostino, Maritime Director of Olbia, the programme will continue with four thematic panel discussions focusing on biodiversity, clean energy, sustainable marinas and sport as a driver of environmental awareness.

A wide range of representatives from institutions, academia and the maritime industry will contribute to the discussions throughout the event. Among them will be Aldo Carta, President of UniOlbia and Director General of CIPNES Gallura, who will join the session dedicated to biomethanol and e-fuels for yachting alongside Flavio Manenti, Professor of Chemical Plants at the Politecnico di Milano, and Simone Bruckner, Director of Research and Development at Sanlorenzo Yacht. The programme will also feature speakers from marine protected areas, trade associations, marina operators and leading companies from across the yachting industry, providing a broad perspective on the sector’s future development.

The event represents an important opportunity to explore the trends shaping the future of modern yachting, further reinforcing Sardinia’s role as a meeting point for sustainability, innovation and the development of the blue economy.
