Italian boating system: discussion on marinas and port sustainability

Tourist ports, sustainability, and marina development were the central themes of the talk “The Italian boating system: evolution, sustainability and innovation of marinas”, held during the second day of the Sardinia Boat Show 2026. The meeting, moderated by Angelo Colombo, organizational manager of the event, brought together institutional representatives and industry operators for a discussion focused on the future of Italy’s boating sector.

The panel featured Donato Liguori, Director General for Ports, Logistics and Intermodality at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport; Roberto Perocchio, President of Assomarinas; Matteo Molinas, President of the Rete dei Porti della Sardegna; Luciano Serra, President of Assonat; Gianluca D’Agostino, Maritime Director of Northern Sardinia; Matteo Italo Ratti, President of the Consorzio Marine della Toscana; and Pietro Angelini, Director of Navigo Toscana, who joined remotely.

The discussion focused on the evolution of the regulatory framework governing marinas and tourist ports, including legislative updates, sustainability, and infrastructure innovation.

During the debate, participants also addressed the sustainable transition of marinas, technological innovation applied to port services, and the future prospects of the Italian boating sector within an increasingly international and competitive environment.

Particular attention was also devoted to the relationship between industry operators and public decision-makers, with a shared reflection on the measures needed to support the growth of the tourist port system and guide the sector’s evolution in the coming years.
